Taking the First Step
Beginning fertility treatment can feel overwhelming for many couples. Confronting this medical challenge may bring worries of failure and disappointment. We are here to assist and guide you, instilling confidence and aiming to achieve success. We will continue and manage your care every step to guide you in the difficult decisions. Our constant focus is assisting you to proceed effectively and scientifically through the sometimes challenging process. We will help you to take the proper steps for success as a new patient or second opinion. Guidance for you and success in attaining your family is our goal and purpose.
Your First Visit
During your initial visit, our team takes time to carefully review every aspect of your medical history that impacts your health and fertility limitations—for both you and your partner. We wish to achieve success by providing empowerment to you and supporting harmony in your life and relationship.
Thoughtful Testing and Evaluation
Thoughtful testing is an important part of care, but we avoid unnecessary steps. We will always provide you with a clear view of the many facets of your care and guide you in the difficult decisions. A first step for female patients may include HSG and hormonal evaluation. This will establish ovarian reserve and opportunity for conception. Hormonal problems will be rapidly diagnosed and corrected. Certainly, we will accept prior testing and will only repeat if changes are likely. For the male partner, semen analysis with blood work is critical. Unlike many other practices, we evaluate the male thoroughly and value his health and participation. Genetic testing results do not change over time and rarely need to be repeated if previously done. However, there are regular advancements in the extent of testing available in genetics, and educating you in this process is critical to our success in having a healthy child.
The Role of Surgery in the Fertility Process
Surgical procedures are sometimes helpful and even necessary. Often they can be avoided, but it is critical that the patient and couple understand the value, limitations, and possible necessity of these procedures. Prior surgical reports are always helpful for both the female and male patient.
Partnering With Your OB/GYN
After these first steps, our shared goal is to move forward together.
We look forward to referring you back to your Gynecologist/Obstetrician between 6–8 weeks gestation, but we are always available for questions or advice. Nonetheless, your Obstetrician is our partner in this process and we will always strive to provide them with the information and assistance to deliver the care you need and deserve.
