Miguel Damien, M.D. – Medical Director
Dr. Miguel Damien, Medical Director of Damien Fertility Partners, has practiced in Monmouth and Ocean counties for thirty years, since 1989. He graduated from Dartmouth Medical School and his postdoctoral training included an internship in surgery and a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Damien’s fellowships in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility were completed at Harvard Medical School and the University of Connecticut. Dr. Damien is Board Certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Nina Seigelstein, M.D.
Dr. Seigelstein, an expert gynecologic surgeon, specializes in minimally invasive surgery. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY—a division of Cornell University Medical College. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and received numerous clinical and scholastic awards, including induction into Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Seigelstein graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history from Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, PA.

Dr. Seigelstein combined her love of adventure and travel with the practice of Ob-Gyn, while working in Tasmania, Australia and on the Navajo Reservation at Fort Defiance Indian Hospital in Fort Defiance, AZ. She also participated in Gynecological Surgery Mission trips to Ladakh in the Indian Himalayas and Ghana, Africa. When not working abroad, Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ was her home.
Dr. Seigelstein’s enduring passion has been to bring quality women’s healthcare to underserved women in Sierra Leone, Africa. She is the Founder and President of One World Women’s Health, where she organized and led numerous mission trips to Makeni, Sierra Leone, performed gynecologic surgeries and provided education and training since 2006. Through her nonprofit, Dr. Seigelstein spearheaded, designed, built, equipped and staffed a fully functional, state of the art Maternity Ward at the Holy Spirit Hospital in Makeni, Sierra Leone.

Barry Perlman, D.O., FACOG
Dr. Barry Perlman, D.O., FACOG, is a Board Certified specialist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility who is dedicated to delivering personalized and exceptional care. His academic background includes an undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology from Lehigh University, followed by his medical education at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. With a deep understanding of the importance of patient-centric treatment, Dr. Perlman emphasizes active listening, building trust, and providing unwavering support throughout the fertility treatment process. He sees himself as a true partner, working alongside patients to help them achieve their unique family-building goals.
Dr. Perlman possesses extensive expertise in diagnosing and treating infertility, with a particular focus on conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome, male factor infertility, and ovarian aging. Additionally, he is skilled in fertility preservation, elective egg freezing, and advanced gynecological surgery. Dr. Perlman’s dedication extends to exploring the impact of endocrine disruptors on infertility.
Dr. Perlman was born and raised in New Jersey and strongly connects to his community. Beyond his professional pursuits, he finds enjoyment in activities such as golfing, cooking, and coaching his children’s sports teams. Recently joining Damien Fertility Partners in July 2023, Dr. Perlman is thrilled to offer comprehensive care to patients through both in-person and virtual consultations. His enthusiasm and commitment shine through as he eagerly supports patients on their fertility journey, providing guidance and assistance every step of the way.

Katherine Mendez, NP
Katherine Mendez is a Family Nurse Practitioner certified through American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She has been practicing in the field of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility since 2018. Her initial experience in maternity care and newborn nursing led her to her career as a nurse practitioner.

Katherine has coordinated the care and management of many infertile couples at multiple fertility practices. She is now dedicated to enhancing the care and management of couples at Damien Fertility Partners with Dr. Damien. Her experience in many areas of reproductive medicine, combined with her expertise with in office procedures has made her invaluable to the care of our patients.

Elizabeth “Liz” Piercy, NP
Elizabeth “Liz” Piercy is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner through American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Liz joined our practice as a Registered Nurse in 2018. Her expertise in the treatment of the infertile couple has grown in the many years training with Dr. Damien and other Gynecologic practices. She is passionate and dedicated to the expert care of our patients. Dedicating herself to completing her Master’s degree in Nursing and Nurse Practitioner training has enabled her to enhance her knowledge with patient management.

Liz’s value to our practice at Damien Fertility Partners continues to grow with her widening experience. She performs all aspects of patient evaluation and in-office procedures under the guidance of Dr. Damien. She educates patients about appropriate treatment options based on their evaluation. She empowers our patients to make informed choices about their reproductive treatment. Liz’s dedication to her role as a patient advocate, provider and educator enhances the care and success of our patients.

Frank Barnes, PhD, HCLD – Laboratory Director
Dr. Barnes is an accomplished scientist and well-known embryologist whose career in reproductive technology spans over 25 years. He received a Masters Degree from the University of Missouri and a Doctoral Degree from the University of Wisconsin.

As a Senior Scientist at biotech firms in Texas and Utah, Dr. Barnes investigated in vitro oocyte maturation and cell cycle effects on embryo development. He has published numerous articles and lectured internationally in this field. He joined Professors A. Trounson and C. Wood at the Center for Early Human Development at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia in 1993, where he assisted in developing the protocols for in vitro human oocyte maturation which culminated in the birth of a healthy child. He continues to assist and conduct research in this field.
Dr. Barnes joined the multi-site IVF practice, Pacific Fertility Center of California in 1994, as Executive Laboratory Director, managing up to twenty embryologists and technicians and over 1500 IVF cycles annually. He instituted many technological laboratory changes and helped pioneer the area of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
